PURIFIER INSPECTION

PURIFIER FEED PUMP

1)      Running Amps
2)      Motor temperature by hand
3)      Shaft seal leaking?
4)      Pump lubricator
5)      Pump suction & discharge pressures (suction filter blocked?)
6)      Valve glands for leaks and any other pipe joint leaks

HEATER

1)      Temperature controller set point and feed back temperature
2)      Check temperature controller supply air for water
3)      Local temperature inlet and outlet
4)      Oil leaks/steam leaks
5)      Relief valve
6)      Steam supply valve position

PURIFIER

1)      Motor amps
2)      Motor temperature by hand and vibrations
3)      Observe drive belt through observation window
4)      Separator oil level
5)      Observe Separator flow (in 24 hours to circulate and separate all sump oil)
6)      Back pressure (1.5 to 2 bar)
7)      Lube oil inlet temperature (90 Deg C)
8)      Inspect hoses and pipes
9)      If appropriate check operating water pulse signal
10)  Check de-sludge timer (countdown on Main control panel) and if safe to do so, remove the sludge outlet inspection plug to ensure no flow is present from water and solids discharges
11)  Manually de-sludge Separator to ensure correct operation. Ensure 3 way valve changes and Separator flow reduces to zero. Monitor displacement water is added by checking the operating water chamber solenoid valve operation and a sharp crack sound should be heard for ejection. Look at Separator amps for “ejection monitoring” and speed recovery. Check for filling water operation. Ensure Separator comes back on line.

PURIFIER STARTING AND STOPPING

               STARTING OF PURIFIER

  • Open sump tank suction valve to purifier feed pump
  • Open inlet/outlet v/vs. of feed pump
  • Open inlet/outlet v/vs of heater
  • Put feed pump power breaker on
  • Open recirculation (by-pass) v/v -which is located after 3way v/v- to purifier outlet line
  • Check separator sump oil level
  • Be sure separator assembled correctly and check all the connections are correct and tight
  • Open main water valve and operating, sealing, displacement water v/vs on the purifier
  • Open sludge outlet v/v to sludge tank
  • Check the break is released
  • Open purifier outlet v/v to sump tank
  • Put the separator power breaker on and start the purifier
  • Check the starting ampere
  • Check the condition of motor, purifier it self and if fitted the drive belt for vibration, abnormal noise or rapid increase temperature
  • Wait until separator starting time finish, confirm this time from electronic separator control unit box.
  • When purifier is running start the feed pump locally; check pump condition and pressure
  • Open manual steam v/v before the heater and steam return v/vs
  • Drain heater pneumatic controller for water condensation and then adjust the steam inlet temperature by setting heater controller slowly, gradually (up to 90°C)
  • Purge the heater by opening air vent
  • Check heater pressure and temperature
  • Check the relief v/v for lifting
  • Go to purifier control unit box and push the start button to start the operation
  • Check the operation sequence
  • Adjust input flow rate (throughput) by using the v/v before the 3way v/v. Set it for total separation of sump tank oil in 24 hours.
  • Adjust the backpressure of separator by using the v/v outlet side of the separator. (i.e. 1,5 – 2 kg/cm2)
  • Try manual disludge for correct operation (opening, closing and changing over the valves of the purifier)
  • Check the program timing and if appropriate; open discharge side plug inspection cover and see if any oil is coming out from the outlet.




                                  STOPPING THE PURIFIER

·         Make 3 manual disludges
·         Go to purifier control unit box and stop the operation by pressing stop button.
·         Wait until operation sequence has finish
·         Reduce the steam quantity by EPCON controller. Put it to 40-50°C
·         Confirm that steam control v/v is shut and then shut the manual steam v/v before the steam control v/v. Then shut the steam return v/v
·         Observe oil temperature and confirm temperature is reduced
·         Stop the oil feed pump
·         Stop the idling purifier by pressing stop button on the purifier cabinet.
·         Apply break.
·         Shut operating water v/vs (displacement, sealing, opening - closing v/vs)
·         Shut heater oil inlet/outlet v/vs
·         Shut recirculation v/v to purifier outlet line
·         Shut purifier outlet v/v to sump tank
·         Shut feed pump inlet/outlet v/vs
